Quick Facts about Jesus

Jesus’ life, death and resurrection is the heart of the Christian faith.

While Jesus was on earth, he taught about the kingdom of God and performed miracles.

Those who heard him or saw his miracles either chose to follow him or despised him.

Some may say that Jesus is simply a prominent historical figure or a good person, but Jesus also claimed to be God, and the only way to God.

Many who heard him were amazed. “Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing?” (Mark 6:2)

Is it possible to consider a man who made such claims a great teacher or moral leader?

C.S. Lewis wrote…

A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice.

Either this man was, and is, the son of God: or else a madman or something worse.

You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come up with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.

Why Jesus?

While it was costly for Jesus, it is free for you and me.

Through Jesus, God offers you and me the gift of forgiveness and freedom. Each of us have a choice to accept his love or to say ‘no’.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16-17)

How can I respond?

It’s simple, we can take a step of faith and ask Jesus for forgiveness, and tell him that we trust him and accept his gift of love and forgiveness.

Use these words as a simple prayer, if you want to accept Jesus today.

Lord Jesus, I need you in my life.

Please forgive me for the things that I have done wrong. Thank you for dying on the cross for me so that I could be forgiven and set free. Because of your love, my sins have been washed clean. Please come into my life, I accept you as the Lord and Saviour of my life, now and forever.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
